7-15 x 2-4 cm; deciduous; coriaceous; oblong, lanceolate or elliptic; 3.6 to 4.9 times as long as wide; apex pointed, acuminate, aristate; base narrowly rounded or cuneate; margin thick but not revolute, entire; adaxially smooth, dark glaucous green, shiny, hairless; abaxially paler, slightly glaucous, smooth, hairless except some fasciate hairs at axils; 12-22 veins pairs, not quite parallel, at an angle of 45° with midrib, slightly raised beneath; epidermis smooth, papillose, not bullate; petiole 3.4-4 mm long, pinkish, glabrescent;

Camus n° 405; – Sub-Genus Quercus, Section Lobatae, Series Erythromexicanae, Group Eugeniaefoliae; – Hybrids with Q. benthamii , Q. cortesii and Q. sapotifolia; – Resembles Q. pinnativenulosa , but this one is long acuminate with a bristle-tipped apex often curly, acorns maturing in 2 years, hairless leaves without any shade of glaucous, a cuneate base, a longer petiole; see HERE to compare with other whole-leaved oaks – Q. muller i, true species for the Plant List 2013, could be a variant with 25-30 veins pairs at an angle of 60° with midrib; in Mexico (Oaxaca); IUCN Red List category CR); – For Susana Valencia 2004, Q. duratifolia is a true species, but not for J.L.
