Leaves

3-10 cm long, 1-4 wide; semi-evergreen; thin but stiff; oblong or elliptic; base rounded to cordate, seldom cuneate; apex rounded or remotely acute, bristle-tipped; marginthick, flat or remotely revolute, entire or wavy-crispate, or even sometimes slightly dentate with very shallow sinuses; dark lustrous green, hairless above except sometimes along midrib; paler beneath with stellate, curly, tawny, variably persistent tomentum; epiderm smooth or slightly bullate; 12-15 vein pairs, straight or slightly curved, impressed adaxially; petiole less than 0.5 cm, slightly pubescent;

Fruits

acorn 1-1.5 cm, ovoid or slightly cylindrical, light brown; singly or paired on a short peduncle less than 1 cm long; cup turbinate, with margin rolled inward, enclosing at least 1/2 of nut, with pubescent scales; matures in 1 year, in October;
