10-14 x 4-6 cm; oval-elliptic; leathery; apex acute to shortly acuminate; base slightly rounded, oblique; green, hairless above; pubescent, whitish beneath; margin denticulate; 13-15 vein pairs; tertiary veins slender, evident beneath; petiole glabrous, sulcate, 1.5-2 cm long;

acorn 1.7 cm long, 1.2 cm wide; ovoid-ellipsoid; shiny reddish brown; enclosed 1/2 or 1/3 by cup; cup thin (1 mm), whitish tomentose outside, with 4-5 concentric rings denticulate at margin; scar 7 mm in diameter, convex; stylopodium persistent; maturing in 1 year;

mixed mountain forests;

– Sub-genus Cerris, Section Cyclobalanopsis; – Close to Q.argyrotricha from which it differs in having larger leaves less acuminate, twigs glabrous, cup with whitish hairs instead of yellow ones, and only 4-5 concentric rings on the cup;
